On June 28, 1962, the Lutheran Church in America (LCA) was formed when 4 synods/groups merged into one organization: 1) the American Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2) the Augustana Evangelical Lutheran Church, 3) the United Lutheran Church in America and 4) the Finnish Evangelical Lutheran Church. In 1988 other synods merged with the LCA and the Association to form what today is known as the Evangelical Lutheran Churches in America. Don’t worry there won’t be a quiz.
