The first superstar historian of England was a monk named Bede, who became known as Venerable Bede and is the Father of English History. He wrote Bible commentaries as well but most of what is known about the history of England up to the late 700’s comes from Bede’s pen. His pupils surrounded his death bed and chanted hymns when he died on May 26, 735.
